♥ What's the difference between a Standard Size Corset and a Fully Custom Corset?
- Below is a chart explaining the major differences between standard size and fully custom corsets. Other than the variances explained below, there are NO DIFFERENCES in the way the corsets are constructed. Both types of corsets are constructed at the same level of quality and with attention to detail. Standard & custom corsets BOTH are suitable for tight lacing.
♥ What is the difference between waist training & tight lacing?
- There are many varied answers you'll find to this question, most of them correct. There is no one way to define these two terms, as they're often used as synonyms or interchangeably. For our purposes, I'm offering my own definitions here, as I find the two phrases to be distinctly different from one another.
- Waist Training: Defined as one who wears a corset specifically for the purpose of permanently reducing ('training') the physical measurements of their waist over time. Those who waist train wear a corset daily, for a minimum of 8 hours (though many consider true waist training 18-23 hours/day).
For this reason, it is far more beneficial to invest in a fully custom corset when one plans to wear a corset for significant stretches of time. An improperly or ill-fitting corset is quickly going to become uncomfortable, and will never be properly broken in.
- Tight Lacing: Defined as one who likes to wear their corset laced at a significant reduction; typically 4-6" (or more, depending on the wearer) smaller than their natural waist size. One can tight lace, or be a tight lacer, without waist training. There are plenty of people that don't wear corsets daily that have the ability to and/or enjoy a significant waist reduction when wearing their corset.
Standard size and fully custom corsets are suitable for tight lacing. Again, a fully custom corset is going to be more suitable for long-term extended wearing, but in regards to construction, both types are built to be laced as tightly as is comfortable for the wearer.
♥ How do I know what size to buy?
Standard size corsets should be purchased with reference to the size chart. Based on the chart's measurements, standard corsets are made with a 2" reduction and a 2" gap. If you're an experienced corset wearer or tight-lacer, use your discretion based on previous corsets.
SugarKitty CUSTOM corsets are made for a 3" waist reduction, unless specified otherwise. If you choose the standard 3" reduction, your corset will be made 5" smaller than your waist size. You will have the immediate 3" reduction you desire. The remaining 2" allows for any stretching of your corset, as well as the ability to lace tighter once you're used to wearing your corset.
